An Enterprise Agreement (EA) is a volume licensing agreement designed for large organisations, allowing them to purchase and license Microsoft software and Azure cloud services for a set period of time. Traditionally, EAs require customer commitment upfront and include limited technical support from Microsoft.
The Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) model is an alternative to the EA. With CSP, customers can add or remove licences as required, pay for what is used on a month-by-month basis, and streamline their licensing management with the help of a Microsoft Partner specialising in Microsoft cloud technology.
Microsoft has announced that, effective 1 January 2025, certain customers with cloud EAs are no longer eligible for renewals under the existing EA framework. Instead, Microsoft is shifting enterprise customers toward the Microsoft Customer Agreement for Enterprise (MCA-E) and encouraging small and midsize organisations to explore the MCA-E and the CSP model as alternatives.
